Most people get into vacation rentals after falling in love with a place while on vacation. Mine was the opposite — I bought 902 Calypso without ever stepping foot in Panama City Beach. The first time I saw it was driving down Front Beach Road in my Jeep, with my dog Pixie and a gym bag with “a few days” worth of clothes.
It was 2020. The world was shut down, travel was a mess, and nothing felt normal. Still, the condo felt like an opportunity to start something new. I took a chance, signed the papers, and drove straight through from Texas to Florida. Today, that first condo has grown into a small collection of Panama City Beach condo rentals designed for simple, family-friendly stays.
I arrived in Panama City Beach right after my 45th birthday and walked into 902 for the first time. Two things hit me immediately: the view was even better than the photos, and I had a lot of work to do. What I thought would be a quick setup turned into about three months of constant work and adjustments due to COVID delays.
During that time, I learned everything from scratch. I met cleaners, maintenance crews, inspectors — anyone involved in keeping Panama City Beach condo rentals running smoothly. I figured out how the buildings worked, how guests were traveling during an uncertain time, and what it actually takes to turn a condo into a place people enjoy staying in.
